Cannabinoids

The Role of Cannabinoids in Cellular Balance

Balancing Cellular Health with Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids are biologically active molecules that interact with the endocannabinoid system and the endocannabinoidome. Cannabinoids activate receptors on cell membranes to restore balance at the cellular level, to correct cell signaling and to bring balance or homeostasis to all of our bodies systems. Cannabinoids are categorized into three types: Endocannabinoids, Phyto-Cannabinoids and Synthetic / Pharmaceutical Cannabinoids.

Endocannabinoids

Cannabinoids naturally produced within body ie: Anandamide (AEA) & 2AG

Phytocannabinoids

Cannabinoids derived externally from plants, primarily cannabis and hemp plants Ie: THC, CBD, CBG, CBN, THCV, CBDA, CBGA.

Synthetic Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids developed by pharmaceutical industry Ie: Marinol, Epidiolex, Sativex

Phytocannabinoids

Cannabinoids from plants such as the Cannabis & Hemp Plant

Over 150 distinct cannabinoids have been identified in cannabis and hemp. While THC and CBD are prevalent, others exist in minimal amounts. Moreover, not all cannabinoids possess equal significance in eliciting specific therapeutic effects for diverse patient groups.

Plant cannabinoids are compounds that interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system, mimicking our own endocannabinoids which plays a role in regulating various physiological processes including mood, memory, pain sensation and appetite control.

CBD & THC

The Power Couple

CBD and THC stand out as the dynamic duo among the numerous cannabinoids identified within the cannabis plant and hemp plant.
THC amplifies CBD’s effectiveness, while CBD acts to moderate and mellow THC’s impact on brain receptors, potentially reducing psychoactivity or impairment without compromising medicinal benefits elsewhere in the body.
Often hailed as the plant’s medical powerhouse, CBD simultaneously targets multiple areas in the body, striving to maintain our body’s equilibrium.
