A colleague encouraged me to look into this class after we discovered we both had a passion for the plant! I am 54 years old, have been smoking for over 30 years, discretely because I am a nurse. When the pandemic came I stepped away from my nursing career- I can’t lie the pandemic scared me. I went online and took a class from Cannabis Training University and got my masters certificate in cannabis. I then went to work in a local dispensary. I learned as much as I could and partnered with one of the owners and I created 3 of my own strains. I was also in Northeast Leaf Magazine 4/2022 as Budtender of the month. When I found I could incorporate cannabis with my nursing degree I knew it was one of my callings. The CHC course that I took from Holistic Caring wrapped my previous education and experience together with this additional knowledge. The presentation was fantastic as it was delivered in a way that my brain (and many nurses brains) works. I am so excited to start this journey and tackle the east coast! Thank you for dedicating your energy into educating about cannabis.

Cannabis for Health is an educational program that is essential and vital in our rapidly changing healthcare system where disease management is supported over restoration of health. Cannabis is an avenue available to any person seeking more control over their health and well being. Elisabeth Mack’s Cannabis for Health program provides a solid foundation of cannabis education that promotes coordinating, advocating, guiding, assessing, educating, and providing peace of mind and support to those seeking to use cannabis for health.

I have really enjoyed learning about cannabis as I use to be against marijuana. I am looking forward to continuing to learn and helping myself, family, and patients. Thank you for this course and continuing support in becoming a health coach.

Sherri has a way about her—- she meets you exactly where you’re at. There’s never pressure to be anything more or less than you desire… She’s an amazing teacher in this way, sharing her wisdom and giving you the tools, yet allowing you to grow at your own pace. Sherri also brings in the connection of the plant with Spirit, so we as healers can show others the ways of healing mind, body, and spirit using plant medicine.

Sherri has helped me work through stigma as a nurse and coming out of the cannabis closet.  We’ve discussed how to determine and present our why’s including sharing our personal stories about healing using plant medicine.

There has been much research and development including lots of exploration of products including but not limited to the various routes of administration, durable medical equipment, and discussions about dosing protocols & product combinations. I’ve had the pleasure of gaining hands-on cannabis clinical experience via observing zoom consultations AND in person at dispensaries throughout the Boston area.

Lastly, she shows you the in’s and the out’s of how to navigate the business aspect of affiliations, marketing, and formulating multiple income streams. In my professional opinion, she’s worth every single penny.

As an Integrative Health & Wellness Nurse Coach trained as a Cannabis Consultant/Coach I have sought out knowledge and treatment to control the chronic insomnia, and joint pain related to chronic Lyme Disease, and fibromyalgia that I have experienced for several years. The only product that helped me sleep more that four hours was obtained through CBD! Through education, trial experience and the help of Holistic Caring team members I now sleep 6-8 hours a night, and experience less joint pain!

I am just finishing up the LCHC program and I must say, that it is very educational. The program is easy to navigate and very full time job friendly. I am looking forward to starting my practice as a licensed cannabis coach.

I started looking in to Medical Cannabis on Monday Evening, and by this Morning, I had an approved card through the State of Iowa. I wouldn’t have been able to get through everything without all the members here who helped answer my many questions. I found a lot of people wondering how the process worked for me – so I will write out here as best I can.

  1.  I found out that “Chronic Pain” is an allowed condition under Iowas Medical Cannabis Law. I felt that I qualified due to lingering back pain from an old warehouse job I worked (lift with your legs – not your back!)
  2.  I connected with The Green Nurse and was directed to their Patient Intake Form.
  3. After filling that out, the wonderful Nurse Carey Lee reached out to me for a consultation and we determined that Medical Cannabis + CBD was a potential avenue for relief.
  4. After my consultation I was directed to a specific doctor who was able to fill out my application form for Medical Cannabis with the state of Iowa. I submitted that form this morning, and 45 minutes later it was already approved and I have my temporary card, while waiting on my Physical Card in the mail.
  5. The upfront cost including consultation and application fees is something to be aware of – the product at the dispensaries is also relatively expensive
  6. All of that being said – if you are looking in to acquiring a Medical Cannabis Card for the State of Iowa – I can’t recommend “The Green Nurse” highly enough – from start to finish it was an easy process, with very little stress on my side.

I am 45-year-old male who has struggled with anxiety throughout my life. My anxiety struggles come and go. Last year, I was involved in a car accident that created issues with my body. I started to experience cold clammy hands and feet. I started to see a psychiatrist who prescribed anti-anxiety medicine, but I did not like the side effects. Particularly, having foggy episodes in the morning. Recreational use of cannabis became legal in my state last year. I looked into self-medicating with the recreational market to assist with my condition. I was not feeling better. I came across The Green Nurse in my search for more information to help me figure out if cannabis was right for me.

I worked with the The Green Nurses and Sherri Tutkus was the nurse that helped me. I had two consultations that included education and my medical card. She created a care plan that included other information besides cannabis to help me. I was impressed with the plan that Sherri created for me which also included nutrition and exercise education, referral to therapists and local organizations to compliment a treatment plan. I believe this was the best decision I have made about my health. I was able to come off the anxiety medicine as the CBD provide relaxation and regulates my mood during the day and I no longer get clammy hands and feet. And THC is introduced in the evening for sleep.

I am slowly coming off sleeping pills, a habit developed over the past several years. I firmly believe that as I age, working with Sherri and The Green Nurse has in effect extended my quality of life by 100%.

On February 29, 2016 I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. After a grueling series of chemotherapy and radiation, I was supposed to have less than one year of life and was placed on hospice care.  My oncologist suggested that I try the use of medical cannabis to  help my symptoms.  Nobody expected that I would survive this cancer. I  was connected with the The Green Nurse and Sherri Tutkus came to my home and we discussed the benefits and the use of CBD and THC.

I started learning and she guided me to use the plant as well as giving me  instructions on other things that I could do to help make it work better. I have to thank her and her organization for giving me my life back.  I know that my complete disappearance of the cancer is a miracle, but I can certainly thank Sherri and her great work to help me with this process which helped me beat the odds. I continue to be in contact with her and I find a lot of help every time I call for some concern. Thank you again for your help and your constant support.

I have referred many friends and patients to Sherri Tutkus for help with understanding how to use medical marijuana consciously for a variety of symptoms including my sister with great results. She is a gift to everyone who is trying to sort through the confusing and overwhelming choices green medicine has to offer.

TSC Talks Radio Show

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and being interviewed for The Green Nurse Podcast.  It was an honor and privilege to get a chance to share some nitty-gritty details on DIY psychedelics, cannabinoid medicine, the cracked systems of care and TSC talks.  Your interview style was engaging, supportive and just plain awesome. Looking forward to future collaboration and thanks again for the wonderful opportunity to discuss “living our best lives”

I wanted to say thank you, Sherri,  again for giving Jack Devin and Kyle McCrea the opportunity to speak with you the other day. I talked with both of them about the important role they are playing in educating their peers on being knowledgeable about healthcare options available to this upcoming generation.  We have all been touched by the opioid crisis and there has to be a better way – and that’s through education.
I was also glad I got the opportunity to sit in and listen to you.  I myself have always chosen to take the more ‘natural’ approach in caring for myself and others.   This has been a challenge in my career as an RN as I am witness to what I consider to be the overuse and misuse of pharmaceuticals.  I do realize there is plenty of good, but also there are other ways for us to take care of ourselves.
What I found most interesting and educational for me while listening to you on Sunday was subject of the Endocannabinoid System!  Something that is not spoken about in the medical world (at least not in my career experience).   This is something that I have been looking more into since our meeting and it is also something that I know I have been instinctively practicing, even though I didn’t have a name for it.
So with all of that being said, I think you are doing a great service in bringing forward the important place that cannabis holds so others can live their best lives!  Thank you!

Previous to my interviews with Sherri, I had a very wrong and distorted view surrounding the use of cannabis, either medically or recreationally. For about as long as I can remember, I have been subjected to popular culture portraying the plant as a mind-altering drug which can be used as a gateway to more dangerous substances. Not to mention, the nationwide illegalization of cannabis has done nothing more than delay research about the plant’s medical uses as well as cloak it in a damaging, incriminating stigma. Many states are just now taking the proper steps to legalize the plant, finally allowing for groundbreaking research on the potential benefits of cannabis and CBD. I learned that cannabis and especially CBD aren’t something we should be afraid of, but rather it could be the missing link to a healthy lifestyle. I believe it is important to know where your product comes from, as most pharmaceutical companies utilize much more industrialized and commercialized methods to mass produce products. I think that The Green Nurse offers a unique combination of quality products from trusted vendors that can be tweaked to cater specifically to a patient’s treatment needs. This service is virtually unseen, certainly in an untapped market as new as cannabis with the expectations of big pharma’s production rates.

By far the most mind blowing information that I learned from Sherri was the existence of the endocannabinoid system in the human body. Never before in my life had I heard that there was a regulatory system in our body responsible for the upkeep of every single organ. The body actually makes its own THC-like chemical component to match endocannabinoid receptors, however, it can often be beneficial to microdose different forms of THC or CBD in order to give this system a “jump start” if one’s body doesn’t make enough itself. If used in collaboration with a healthy diet and proper physical activity, for example, CBD or cannabis can function to maintain homeostasis within one’s organ systems. CBD and Cannabis should only be used to give an occasional boost to your endocannabinoid system, as excessive activation of receptors can lead to decreased production of the body’s natural THC-like substance. This means that your body won’t upkeep its endocannabinoid system by itself, having to rely on outside sources of the CBD or THC.

I learned that CBD has a place in medicine because it could be a potential substitute for many pharmaceuticals with various side effects, regulating the body’s organs with little-to-no risks. It is especially important to emphasize how little information that I brought into our discussion that turned out to be accurate, because many sources of information, particularly school, fail to teach about the benefits of the plant instead of only focusing on the negatives. I think The Green Nurse could impact public perception of cannabis and CBD greatly by integrating themselves into health classes taught at school or offering a specific course on the subject. If the public was better informed about the many uses of cannabis, the general public could reap the benefits of a plant that has been around since the beginning of mankind.

On March 8th, Jack and I had the pleasure of meeting with Sherri Tutkus. Previous to this interview, Jack and I first met Sherri when we had to interview her about herself and everything about what she does. Sherri first explained to us what cannabis was and all of the parts to it and properly educated us all about the endocannabinoid system. She described how every system within the body develops their own endocannabinoids which help regulate the system to keep homeostasis. In school, we never learned about cannabinoids or an entire body system which envelopes every other system in the body. Sherri taught us this “umbrella effect”, which means that at the top of the umbrella there is the endocannabinoid system and each rung of the umbrella are all the other body systems. We only learned about Cannabis in school for a very brief amount of time but it only saw the drug as impairing. However, with what I’ve learned from Sherri is that Cannabis is so much more than getting high.

What really stood out to me during this whole experience is how great CBD really is and all of the positive effects it has on people. A person can come in to purchase CBD for a number of reasons which include: stress, anxiety, depression and even pain. Jack and I’s Capstone was directly focused on CBD and its pain relieving effects. We found trouble at first, researching because marijuana has been so taboo to the public eye that there are not many case or clinical studies. However, now with the legalization of marijuana, more tests will be conducted and more results will be found. At the end of this whole experience, Jack and I are walking out into the real world with the proper education on CBD and all of its benefits and I for one, have a completely different mindset on CBD and Cannabis.

I believe I helped one of your apprentices at the Galena Verilife location! She was fantastic and I always remember the interaction, everyday. All she left me for a contact card was this Green Nurse card for Sherri Tutkus, but I’m not sure if she’s the woman I served. I’d just like to thank her for inspiring me and being wonderful. I’d also love to get her contact info and learn from her if possible! Thank you so much, and thank you for you passion for cannabis!

When I was just starting out as a Green Nurse I was feeling insecure in my knowledge and  ability to guide my patients in cannabis therapeutics. Working 1:1 with Sherri and doing a mock session on myself was invaluable. It gave me the confidence through the “experience” of being a patient, a nurse guide, and the security of knowing that I had a mentor to connect with if I had questions.

Thank you Sherri I’m learning from the Best !!

When I came to Holistic Caring, I was suffering from deep pain that was going to end in a hip replacement. Under Elisabeth Mack‘s care, I not only received pain relief, but also range of motion that allowed me to engage in physical therapy. Elisabeth’s expertise and compassion calmed my fears and gave me the confidence to return to a positive outlook. I am grateful to Holistic Caring for my healing!

Seeing is believing…. When I first heard from Elisabeth Mack that CBD might help relieve some of the symptoms my Mother was suffering from in her diagnosis of Dementia related Alzheimer’s – I was scared. I wanted to give my Mother a better quality of life, but I had tried all the other options… I honestly didn’t have any hope that CBD oil could do anything.

My Mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2015….at the age of 82. Her anxiety & confusion were unbearable to witness. I tried every prescription drug & supplement recommended by her Doctor; nothing worked. I was so discouraged. I had little hope that the CBD oil, or Holistic Caring would make any difference for my Mother, but I was willing to try. I felt desperate to see Mom get some relief.

Within 72 hours, I saw bits of my Mother again…and literally after the first week of her trial period, she was still my Mom with Alzheimer’s but she was enjoying her life more!… More twinkle in her eyes, more hugs to share,  & more kisses to give…..sleeping better…..she was losing her nervous, anxious, scared self…. The change was consistent, she was more comfortable in her own body, than anything  I had witnessed in years.

My Mother passed away at the age of 87 this year in June, she had been on a regular dosing of CBD – 3 x’s a day with Holistic Caring for over 2 1/2 years.  I am forever grateful to Elisabeth Mack, & the team at Holistic Caring for the loving support & wisdom they gave me on this journey with my Mother.  With great confidence I highly recommend you to Holistic Caring if you, or a loved one is suffering from Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

Elisabeth Mack at Holistic Caring has been so very helpful to me as I entered the strange world of cannabis, helping me to understand how to make this natural product work best for me, and counseling me along the way. I highly recommend working with her.

I confidently refer cancer patient friends of mine to Elisabeth Mack at Holistic Caring because of the positive experiences I have had.Elisabeth helped me learn a great deal about integrating the most cutting-edge medicinal cannabis protocols into my existing cancer treatment and broad wellness plans. Coming from a background of limited knowledge about cannabis, I am very grateful to have Holistic Caring as part of my care team

Maria Jessica Hernandez

I’m a 61 year old healthy woman, and  I’ve completed over 25 half-marathons, but in 2019 I learned that interior melanoma invaded my body.  I was scared with my new reality and to make things worse I lost my insurance. Still, I had surgery to remove the cancer, but then they found more cancer in my lymph nodes.

I was at a loss, so I called Elisabeth Mack, who I had recently met at a lecture.  She came over and for the first time I felt hopeful. I started cannabis treatment with Holistic Caring on November 2019, and by Jan. 2020 my new insurance allowed me to start traditional cancer treatment.  I was scheduled to begin chemotherapy on Feb. 14th, but the new PET-CT showed my cancer had already shrunk quite a bit, so instead of chemotherapy we started with Keytruda.

Today I am happy to say that I am cancer free and I can’t help but feel like the cannabis treatment not only had something to do with the cancer shrinkage, it also brought me a lot of relief and peace of mind.

Loraine Sewell

I first met Elisabeth Mack at one of her lectures on cannabis as medicine. Never considering entering the world of cannabis, this eloquent speaker drew me in with her knowledge and her genuine concern for the health of patients and to educate others.

I have had back pain for many years & Elisabeth spent a lot of time with me learning my medical history and prescribing cannabis tincture which I have been using for two years. My pain has been reduced and I am not as anxious as I had been.

I am grateful every day for Elisabeth and her guidance and thankful to have her as my counsel.

I have recommended her to several of my friends and will continue to do so.

I’d researched medical use of cannabis for a long time.  That’s how I knew I needed therapeutic doses of cannabis for cancer, and how I knew I needed a cannabis consultant on my care team.  Elisabeth Mack and Holistic Caring were the answers to my urgent search and numerous prayers.

Given her vast knowledge and expertise, Elisabeth advised me on what products I needed, how to ramp up to necessary dosing, and how to maintain living a normal life while at those dose quantities.  But it was not just the technical aspects of dosing that made the experience so successful.  It was Elisabeth’s personal support that were just as important as the cannabis itself.  Not to mention the ever-useful tips and suggestions.

Once again I find myself in need of a cannabis consultant.  The person I once again am turning to is Elisabeth at Holistic Caring for help and guidance.   She is worthy of my confidence during difficult times.

I loved my experience with the Holistic Caring Cannabis Coaching Certification Program. The modules were easy to navigate, the information was current, and links were provided so we can read relevant research articles.

As an acupuncturist specializing in oncology, many of my patients are medical marijuana users. The information in this program has given me enough knowledge to assess what they are using, adjust the strains and doses to increase effectiveness, AND, most importantly, make sure they are not interfering with the other treatments they are doing. Medical marijuana in oncology is NOT a one-size-fits-all thing, and most physicians don’t know enough about the benefits, drug interactions, and side effects of marijuana to know how it impacts the treatment they are providing. This program has filled in the gaps in my knowledge so I can effectively talk to physicians, provide them education and access to research studies, and better serve my patients.
